11:30 AM - 1:00 PMCongregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT

All are welcome to join us at CBI for a lunch and speaker program sponsored by the CBI/ADL Kulanu Program, our antisemitism working group. We have two incredible presenters, Rabbi Stephen Fuchs and Professor Donna Divine. There will be time for questions and discussion. There is no cost to attend but advanced registration is required, please CLICK HERE or visit www.cbict.org. For questions, please contact Howard Pierce at hpierce@piercellclaw.com.

Rabbi Fuchs will discuss the different manifestations of antisemitism over the course of history with an emphasis on the period of time from the end of WWII to the present with a presentation entitled "An Historic Overview of Anti-Semitism, Jewish Hate and Anti-Israel Activity". Prof. Divine's program explores the idea that if all the changes that can be documented since the founding of Israel, none are as dramatic and surprising as the country’s status as a topic of intellectual inquiry. Once a trope for self-sacrifice and solidarity, a testament to the redemption of a bruised and battered people, the Jewish state today stands accused of practicing apartheid, genocide, ethnic cleansing, and of sustaining itself as a remnant of an outdated and thoroughly delegitimized colonial order. The Jewish state has not simply been rebranded; it has essentially been re-named and the academy has been at the forefront of this radical transformation in how Israel is understood. This change has triggered hostility to Israel and to Jews worldwide. Her talk will focus on the consequences of this radical change for university education.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
