Author Visit: Jonathan Blitzer

All are welcome to hear from West Hartford native Jonathan Blitzer, the New York Times bestselling author of "Everyone Who Is Gone is Here" and staff reporter for The New Yorker. Doors open at 6:30pm and the program will begin at 7pm.

We can't begin to heal our broken immigration system until we take an honest look at the political decisions and policies that brought us to this point. Mr. Blitzer will share what he has learned after more than a decade of reporting on immigration as well as powerful stories about immigrants whose lives have been deeply affected.

His talk will be followed by a conversation with Bob Fishman, Founding Executive Director of CIRC (CT Immigrant and Refugee Coalition) and Maggie Mitchell Salem, Executive Director of IRIS (Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Service).

Books will be available for purchase from River Bend Bookshop at the event. A book signing will follow the presentation. To pre-order books go to www.riverbendbookshop.com.

This event is sponsored by CBI's GHIAA Core Team, Adult Education, Brotherhood, Sisterhood and the Friends of the Learning Center, CIRC, IRIS, the Social Justice Ministry of the Universalist Church of West Hartford, the Charter Oak Cultural Center and Beth David Synagogue.
There is no charge for this event but a suggested online donation of $20 is encouraged to CIRC or IRIS.
